Standing by the boundary wall (the school gates are to my right).  Photo shows (L-R) the end of Block-7, Block-17 and Block-6.

This photo was taken in March 2006 shortly after demolition had started.  At this time only Block-8 had actually been demolished and the school was still fully operational.

Photo taken from the roadside corner of Block 17 (the new music room).  It shows three of the Romney classroom blocks that came into use in 1960.    I never took any classes in these blocks but I was friendly with a pupil who's 3rd year form room was through the door that we see open in Block 5.

Standing on pathway between blocks 3 and 4.  The  covered walkway is attached to the end of Block-4.  Looking through the trees from left to right we see the end of Block-17 (music block), the boiler room, the changing rooms, the back end of the school hall and the "new" girls toilet block.

The walkway leads through to the road by the small electricity hub station and the tennis/netball/basketball court.  Block-17 was the "new" Music Block" and was the last classroom block built (1960/61).

The building at near left in the first photo is the boiler-room located opposite the Changing Rooms (at near right photo1).

I am standing near what was in my time the exit gate.  Block 7 is on the right and Block 6 on the left and the netball/basketball court can be seen in the distance.

On a sad note:  At the time of this visit to the school (March 2006) Block-8 had just been demolished (it was the first to go) otherwise it would have been visible behind the court.

Wide angle view of Block 7.   This is the Romney block with the long, flat-roof extension on the back.

Behind the block you can just make out the first signs of ground work in preparation for the building of the new school.

Taken from the corner of the gymnasium with Block 9 (out of shot) across the road to my right.   The little building is the electrical hub station with the netball court behind.   You can just see Block 7 at the end of the road.

Block 7 From The Road

Photo taken from just inside the exit (in my time) gates.  Block-7 on left and Block-6 on right.   The block in the far distance behind the palm tree is Block-8.    I understand that this palm tree has some significance (a gift from ???) - if you have any info do let me know.

Block-5

Nice view of Block-5 (facing Block-4 out of shot on left).

This can be a difficult one to place. The boiler room (at the back of changing rooms) is behind me on my right (look at the position of the walkway cover in the next photo).

Don't know much about these blocks as I never had any classes in them.   The block at the end is the "new" Block-17.

Block 17

This block had the largest windows of all the classroom blocks and I believe it was the last block to be built.   It's certainly the only one I don't remember from the time I left in July 1960.

It was situated between the gym and Block-6 (near right).   Blocks 4 and 5 are visible in the background.

...or maybe it was the entrance gate when you were at the school?  This is one of the newer Romney blocks built during the time I was at the school (Sept 57 to July 60).   Anyone know what the little extension was used for?
